Wachter Horses
is owned and operated by Kurt and Irene Wachter and their son,
Beda, his wife, Jenny and their two children. It is situated in
Central Alberta, Canada on the farm site of Joyhill Ranch Inc.
Beda
and his family relocated to Canada in 1997 to run a large
dairy farm in Central Alberta but the love of the horse and the
thrill of competing again started to take hold and the Wachters
sold the dairy and decided to once again dive into the world of
show jumping in the fall of 2000.
Since
then, the family farm has started to take shape with new barns,
pastures, a grass ring, a sand ring, stallion station, youngstock
facility, quarantine facilities, and numerous riding trails surrounding
the 900 + acre farm. A fully heated indoor riding hall was completed
in 2002 and sports 25 large stalls and a 75' x 180' arena, indoor
hotwalker, motorized manure removal system, and many more state
of the art features. A new barn was added in the fall of 2003
that will serve as a foal-out and youngstock barn. The facilities
are fashioned after the European style and the majority of the
systems has been imported from Europe.
Beda started
his career in Switzerland more than 16 years ago, switching from
pleasure riding to show jumping. His ability quickly excelled
him to the 1.4 meter division and he was soon showing and training
in Germany, Ireland, Italy and numerous other locations in Switzerland.
His
family supported his career choice and the family farm soon sported
some of the finest show jumping horses in the area. His desire
for the sport soon had him competing and winning in the more than
forty shows he participated in yearly. His ability in training
show jumpers and his quest for learning brought him to the top
in his division and he was soon requested for training other rider's
horses.
Jenny
is also an equestrian rider who has many accomplishments in the
show ring herself. Competing in Switzerland, on her Stallion mount,
her outstanding technical skills with groundwork and dressage
have carried her far and are evident when she is working with
the numerous horses stabled here in Canada.
Beda has taken
numerous trips to Switzerland and Germany to research various
training techniques and equipment to implement at his training
and breeding facility. These trips also include purchasing horses
to bring to Canada for resale. With his European and North American
connections, Beda's goal is to continue and grow his top breeding
and training facility of Holsteiners, Canadian Warmbloods and
Sporthorses.
